Last summer, in Rosenberg, Texas, I was asked by a wonderful black woman, who co-owned a food truck vendor service with her twin sister, as to the difference between Republicans and Democrats. I responded that Republicans make victors, Democrats make victims.
That is completely apparent when one analyzes the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). What once had a true vital intent has grown into yet another government dependency program. We have moved past issuing food stamps to qualified Americans to handing out Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards, which are accepted everywhere.
Thanks to President Trump we have witnessed some seven million Americans being moved off the poverty rolls, where Barack Obama had sentenced them. They are now able to be productive, employed, members of our society and pursue their own happiness and not be relegated to economic enslavement, but rather have a chance for economic empowerment.
Therefore, just today, the United States Department of Agriculture just issued this press release:
“At the direction of President Donald J. Trump, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced a final rule to move more able-bodied recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) towards self-sufficiency and into employment. The rule restores the system to what Congress intended: assistance through difficult times, not a way of life.
“Americans are generous people who believe it is their responsibility to help their fellow citizens when they encounter a difficult stretch. The government can be a powerful force for good, but government dependency has never been the American dream. We need to encourage people by giving them a helping hand but not allowing it to become an indefinitely giving hand,” said Secretary Perdue. “Now, in the midst of the strongest economy in a generation, we need everyone who can work, to work. This rule lays the groundwork for the expectation that able-bodied Americans re-enter the workforce where there are currently more job openings than people to fill them.”This policy decision advances the seminal difference between constitutional conservatives and progressive socialists: Republicans make victors, Democrats make victims. More from Secretary Perdue can be found in his Arizona Daily Star op-ed: The dignity of work and the American Dream.”

Congratulations to USDA Secretary Purdue for taking this monumental step is removing the shackles of government dependency and victimization. As we all know, the progressive socialist left, who needs victims, will decry this decision and say that millions of Americans will be starving. Interestingly, in Venezuela people are starving, eating from garbage cans, killing pets, and seeking out drinking water from sewers. And that is because they are under the tyranny of a socialist dictator, they are indeed victims.
This policy decision advances the seminal difference between constitutional conservatives and progressive socialists: the former believes in Americans pursuing their happiness to become victors. The latter believes the failed premise of promising and attempting to guarantee happiness by way of mandates, edicts, and tyranny based upon creating victims.
