Ya know, if there is one thing I must address it is progressive socialist hypocrisy. Just last week we had the socialist mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, state that there was lots of money in NYC but it was in the wrong hands. DeBlasio also asserted his belief in property confiscation.
I truly believe that the Father of Classical Liberalism, John Locke, is spinning in his grave. Remember it was Locke who put forth the political philosophy of natural rights theory, as opposed to divine rights theory. He believed that individuals had a natural right, endowed by the Creator, to life, liberty, and property. Yeah, a classical liberal stated that individuals, any and all, had a God-given right to property . . . not de Blasio. It was, however, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, who both donned toxic masculinity beards, and advocated for wealth redistribution and state confiscation of private property. They were socialists.
That brings me to the latest absurd proclamation of freshman Democratic Socialist Congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And, no — let me stress this point — I do not want the cum laude Boston University economics major to stop talking. I cannot think of a better spokesperson for classical liberalism, today’s constitutional conservatism. If she is the future of the Democrat Party, that is a good thing.
As reported by The Hill:
“Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said late Monday that an economic system that allows billionaires is “immoral.”
“I do think that a system that allows billionaires to exist when there are parts of Alabama where people are still getting ringworm because they don’t have access to public health is wrong,” Ocasio-Cortez told late-night host Stephen Colbert on CBS’s “The Late Show,” according to the New York Post.
She added that she doesn’t think all billionaires are immoral.
“It’s not to say someone like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet are immoral people,” she said. “I don’t believe that.”
The rising Democratic star has championed progressive ideas including the Green New Deal, which aims to create a plan to get the U.S. on a 100 percent renewable energy electric grid.”
Hmm, the hypocrisy here is rather evident, as Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez tried to qualify her inane statement. See, to her and those on the progressive socialist left, you can be a moral billionaire, part of their Politburo, if you support the leftist ideological agenda. I am quite sure the freshman Democrat Socialist has no issue with the billions of George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, Tom Steyer, or Jeff Bezos, all billionaires, all far left progressive socialists. I bet that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez would qualify her statement for the entertainment and sports elite billionaires who support the far left agenda and their causes. I am quite sure that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bill de Blasio have no problem with Wall Street billionaires who open up their paychecks to fund their party candidates . . . many of whom called upon an NYC billionaire named Donald Trump back in the day.
Progressive socialist leftists have no issue with crony capitalism that will amass wealth in their hands. But to them, a system that allows those with whom they disagree to be prosperous is “immoral.”
Yep, the only billionaires that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez despises and considers immoral are the ones who start out with nothing and work hard. Those who embrace constitutional conservatism and the free market/free enterprise system that allows anyone in America to be prosperous. Yes, I believe that because there were many who came here, legally, from Vietnam, and elsewhere, with nothing but a dream, desire, and determination and they are now wealthy and prosperous. Does Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez believe that the American dream is immoral? Well, what she believes is that it is immoral for those who do not embrace her wealth redistribution scheme.
And therein lies the hypocrisy. Who died and gave her the right to decide who is and is not moral, just based upon their earning power? It is this type of class warfare that, once upon a time, a fella named Hugo Chavez touted. Chavez took what was perhaps the most prosperous country in Latin America and brought it to a point, along with his bus-driving successor, Nicolas Maduro, where people are now scavenging garbage cans for food, have no running water, disease is rampant, and there is no electricity in some places . . . but the socialist elites live well, in prosperity.
Furthermore, I would like to know how many times has Rep. Ocasio-Cortez been down South to “Sweet Home Alabama?” Let’s be honest, there is no one in these United States of America that does not have “access” to healthcare. Heck, these leftists are ensuring that those here illegally have access to healthcare . . . What the heck is she talking about?
Medicaid was created for those who are at or below the poverty level. And anyone going to an emergency room will not be denied healthcare . . . and yes, the expense is spread out among those who can pay, another wealth redistribution scheme. Heck, recently, there was a bed bug outbreak in swanky Manhattan, so please Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, try to get your facts straight. We used to have a saying in the Army, “engage brain before firing mouth”.
Oh yeah, I gotta mention this: California senator — and now presidential candidate — Kamala Harris wants to give every American a tax cut. Well, how do you give a tax cut to the nearly 50 percent of Americans who pay no taxes at all? As a matter of fact, it is the top 1 percent of wage earners who pay nearly 40 percent of all tax revenue, top 5 percent pay 60 percent, and the top 25 percent of wage earners in America foot almost 70 percent of all personal income tax revenue. What Senator Harris is talking about is that funky little thing we have written about previously, a universal basic income. Yep, she wants to just give folks a monthly stipend . . . and where does that money come from? Yep, all those immoral hard-working folks, not just millionaires and billionaires. So, why work at all? What happens to the American dream? Why not just sit back and wait for your “gubmint check?” After all, Ocasio-Cortez says the top income bracket should be at 70 percent. Another delusional leftist presidential candidate wants it set at 90 percent.
The leftists will always claim that is what it used to be. Well, the Democrats also supported slavery . . . now instead of physical bondage, they want economic bondage.
Okay, folks, it is time to do as they used to say on “Romper Room:” put on your thinking hats, especially you young millennials. Why would anyone want to hang out and support folks who subjectively determine who gets to keep what they have earned? There is nothing cool about socialism. If you don’t believe me, call down to Venezuela and ask some folks, the ones who have on average lost 20 pounds…that is not an approved weight loss program. However, it is how progressive socialism rolls, it rolls over individual liberty and freedom. It takes from one to give to others. It rules by way of tyranny, coercion, threats, intimidation, and violence. Ask the kids from Covington Christian School in Kentucky . . . they surely know.
Always remember, progressive socialists do not have to be smart . . . they just require enough people to be stuck on stupid. For whatever reason, that is a growing phenomenon in our Constitutional Republic.
But, please, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, please keep talking. It is providing me with copious amounts of material for these pages!
