‘Choose Greatness’ or ‘Select Stupid’

In #SOSS, Economics, Environment by Allen West

When we came up with the idea of “Stuck on Stupid Saturday,” my website administrator, Marie, and I wondered if we could sustain the concept week to week. Boy howdy, we were wrong, at least so far. Up to this point, we have had multiple choices! Ya know, we constitutional conservatives love choices, progressive socialists only like one, the choice to murder unborn babies. But, I digress. Anyway, it has been abjectly fun, and I really mean downright humorous to review the countless stories of absurdity, with one common denominator: they have all been leftists. Then again, the progressive socialist left may deem me, or us as conservatives, to be the stupid, uneducated neanderthals, that are just not that enlightened. That sentiment reminds me of the adage, “In the land of the blind, a cyclops is deemed a great visionary.”

Once again, we have a tie for this week’s recognition, so let’s uncover this week’s ideologically blind . . . our recipients of The Old School Patriot “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” award.

Yes, you know it, first, we have the darling socialist upon whom I have bestowed the name “Marxist goddess,” uh huh, NY Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

I must admit, even at my first State of the Union address, I did not have to search for guidance as to when I should stand or applaud . . . that is the truest difference between conservatives, individual cognizance, and progressive socialists, collective ignorance. As well, I selected my own clothes to wear. Doggone, for 22 years of my life I had to dress like everyone else!

But, this week, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez unveiled her grand scheme called the “Green New Deal.” It is green because it causes any sane person to puke.

What I found truly absurd — okay, the whole thing is absurd — but it was the abject struggling of the young Congresswoman, supposedly with an Economics degree — cum laude — from Boston University, to explain it.

Okay, here is what I assessed. Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, the present day Nostradamus who believes we have just 12 years left for the world to exist, wants to rid the United States of all fossil fuels in 10 years. Yes, that means no utilization of oil, natural gas, and coal after ten years . . . things that make ya go hmmm.

First of all, am I to believe that in the next ten years we are to make all cars and airplanes go green? Does this mean we will put wind turbines on cars, or perhaps solar panels, no, we are going to plug-in airplanes? Oh boy, hope their batteries hold that charge. Nah, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez must believe that we are all just gonna load up on trains. Heck, we can’t take a Greyhound bus, remember, no more fossil fuels. Then again, how does one lubricate trains [high-speed rail], subways, and type of mechanical structure? Not to mention, the environmental impact studies will take ten years to resolve before we can have any high-speed rail. In any case, I would rather take a three-hour flight to NYC from Dallas, rather than a three-day excursion.

As a matter of fact, how many products have some type of oil-based ingredient? What happens to production and manufacturing if we cannot lubricate the machines? Doggone, even if the enthusiastic congresswoman wants to force us to ride bicycles, well, you have to “grease” the chain.

Think about the recent polar vortex that hit the country . . . right now the temps here in Dallas dipped down into the mid-20s overnight. Are we to believe the Marxist goddess will ensure that solar panels and wind turbines will keep us warm? I hate to remind her, but solar panels freeze over, with ice and snow. The same can happen with wind turbines, and together, these “green” energy outlets produce less than 7% of our nation’s consumable energy. I do not like being cold, and I don’t think many others do. Furthermore, the lower-income levels will struggle to afford green energy sources, fossil fuels are cheap.

Maybe the congresswoman just wants us all to huddle together in urban centers to stay warm and reduce our necessity for transportation . . . freedom. Hey, I like to get out on my Victory Cross Country 8-Ball motorcycle, it will not look cool with a solar panel or wind sail on it. As well, bikers like to get out on the open back roads . . . ain’t no electric plug-in stations out there. Look, I am a grown man, I ain’t riding no wussy boy scooter! So, what will happen, yes, you know it, I will be forced, mandated, coerced, taxed into compliance. Uh huh, the infamous carbon tax. See, that is how the progressive socialist collectivist Borg thinks: “You will assimilate, and resistance is futile.” But, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, perhaps you have not watched the news . . . folks are rioting in Paris because of gas taxes to fund the global wealth redistribution scheme called the Paris Climate Accord. Here in America, we do not like the idea of using taxation for behavior modification, another leftist tactic.

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez supposedly has this Economics degree, well, she should comprehend that government does not “invest” anything . . . It spends other people’s money that it collects in taxes. “We the People” do not want to be taxed for some brain-dead, stuck on stupid idea. And, guess what, four Democrat candidates for president — Senators Warren, Harris, Booker, and Gillebrand — have jumped on the SS Stuck on Stupid with Rep. Ocasio-Cortez . . . and their little tugboat does not have an engine, because engines require fossil fuels!

But wait, remember I told ya, she was tied with another for this weekly distinction.

As reported by Fox News:

“New Jersey residents could soon be hit with what Republicans are calling a “rain tax,” if Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signs newly passed legislation.

The bill, approved by the New Jersey Assembly and the Senate, would allow municipalities to create utilities that can collect fees from homeowners and business owners that have large paved surfaces, like driveways and parking lots. During storms, rainwater mixes with pollutants on those surfaces before running into sewers and drains. The funding from the fees could be used for upgrades to reduce the impact on the environment.

“With all the salt that we’ve had on roads recently, that’s all running into the sewer systems, so you can’t ignore the problems because they don’t go away,” Senate President Steve Sweeney told CBS New York.

State Sen. Richard Codey called the legislation necessary, telling CBS New York that the state’s economy is based on the shore.

“We gotta make sure we keep it that way,” he said.

But Republicans have blasted the plan, dubbing it a “rain tax,” and complaining the state already has implemented too many costs on residents. The bill would establish a “Clean Stormwater and Floor Reduction Fund,” which would be used for stormwater utilities in the state, as well as water quality monitoring, pollution reduction projects and outreach programs, according to the legislation.

“Under the bill, a county, municipality, or authority (local unit) that establishes a stormwater utility is authorized to charge and collect reasonable fees and other charges to recover the stormwater utility’s costs for stormwater management,” the bill reads.”

Ya know, the leftists tried this EPA mandated stormwater runoff punitive measure back during the Obama administration. Doggone, here we go again, Einstein’s definition of insanity . . . translated, “stuck on stupid.” We are now going to tax people for rainwater that runs off from their driveways, and yards? What craven idiocy is this? Think about it: how many new government workers will need to be hired to go around, after a rainstorm, and collect data on how much to assess in taxes? Imagine this, residents and business owners being taxed for Super Storm Sandy — think about all the “rainwater” that fell and stood in parking lots and driveways.

Ladies and gents, where do they find these people? No, the real issue, and point of order, is that people like Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and Governor Murphy are truly representative of the stuck on stupid mentality . . . but it takes a very “Special Kind of Stupid” to vote for them. These are the people that Vladimir Lenin coined as “useful idiots.”

Congratulations to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Governor Phil Murphy for being this week’s recipients of the “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” recognition. And yes, I want them both to keep up their insidious ideas. They will make it really easy to “Choose Greatness” come November 2020.
