Well, it is moving day for the West household, Angela and I. We are packing up and heading just a tad east from Dallas to our new home in Garland, Texas. We put our old house on the market last year the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and got a contract on it in December before Christmas — a really nice young conservative couple.
As well, with our older daughter Aubrey’s keen eye, we settled on a really nice mid-century modern house in Garland — heck no, I have no idea what that means — quiet neighborhood.
If there is one thing that having a career in the Army teaches ya, it is how to move. Speaking of moving, it looks like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had best get moving or she will find herself irrelevant.
First of all, Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has asserted that “I’m da boss.” That is a fairly bold statement from someone who struggled with knowing the three branches of government, not to mention simple math. Along with a disastrous drubbing of her “Green New Deal” by the Greenpeace co-founder, her chief of staff’s campaign finance woes, the recent revelation that her mom fled New York due to high taxes, and more inane comments emanating from her mouth, it has not been a good week for “da boss.”
Then we have another freshman, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, best known for her very “charming” language and perspective on impeachment. Well, it looks like Rep. Tlaib is in a little hot water for having her campaign pay her $17, 500 as a salary after the campaign was over, which is a clear violation of FEC rules.
Then there is our little Somali darling, someone I just happened to walk past last week Thursday in the Capitol. Yep, freshman Congresswoman of Minnesota, Ilhan Omar. It appears that just a little over two months into Nancy Pelosi’s second reign as Speaker, she has some swamp draining to do herself . . . and she is now supervising a very open civil war within her House Democrat Caucus.
Yes, that is right, “da Boss,” and not Pelosi, has already stated that she will primary challenge any Democrats voting with Republicans.
As reported by Fox News:
“Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing renewed pressure over her latest Israel remarks — sparring with Rep. Nita Lowey after the fellow Democrat blasted her remarks as “hurtful.”
The Minnesota congresswoman drew criticism after appearing once again to reference the so-called “dual-loyalties” charge against Israel supporters.
“I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country,” Omar said last week. “I want to ask why is it OK for me to talk about the influence of the NRA, of fossil fuel industries, or big pharma, and not talk about a powerful lobbying movement that is influencing policy.”
Lowey, who was responding to a widely condemned poster displayed at the West Virginia statehouse Friday linking Omar to the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, started out defending the freshman Democrat before delivering her criticism.
“Gross islamophobic stereotypes – like those about @IlhanMN recently featured on posters in WVA – are offensive and have no place in political discourse. Anti-Semitic tropes that accuse Jews of dual loyalty are equally painful and must also be roundly condemned,” Lowey tweeted.
“Lawmakers must be able to debate w/o prejudice or bigotry. I am saddened that Rep. Omar continues to mischaracterize support for Israel. I urge her to retract this statement and engage in further dialogue with the Jewish community on why these comments are so hurtful.”
Y’all wanna know the real issue here? As I have stated often, there are no consequences nor ramifications for these Democrats. They feel they are impervious to any scrutiny or holding of standards when on these matters.
White Democrats can admit that they wore blackface, call their constituents by the despicable “N-word,” or even offer 8th-grade black pages pieces of cotton and ask them to think about being slaves . . . . and what happens? Not a damn thing.
Oh yeah, President Trump is a racist, so crowed Rep. Tlaib last week in the farcical Michael Cohen hearing. Yes, the hypocrisy is utterly unconscionable.
So now we have a raging anti-Semite, supported by Louis Farrakhan, who continues to rant against our best ally in the Middle East, the Jewish State of Israel, and what happens? Yep, you got it, nada, zip, zilch. In fact, she remains on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Why? It’s simple: just as with the black vote, the Democrats do not fear losing the Jewish vote . . . and why should they? This whole BDS — Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction — movement originated on the left. The virulent anti-Semitism that you find on our college and university campuses that threaten Jewish students while supporting Islamic jihadist organizations — that is what Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al Quds and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade are — comes from the left. The self-hating Jewish organization known as J-Street is allied with the Democrat Party. And, it was Barack Obama and John Kerry who used their campaign operatives in an effort to defeat Israeli PM Netanyahu. What were the consequences? None. We all know how President Obama treated PM Netanyahu on his first visit to the White House. How about the boycotting of PM Netanyahu’s joint address before Congress by, yes, you guessed it, Democrat lawmakers?
Oh, but who was it that moved the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem? Yes, the same “racist” fella that has greatly improved the economic empowerment of the American black community.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi is not going to do a damn thing about any of this. These freshmen Democrats know exactly that, and hence it is rather Pavlovian to dismiss and reward this bad behavior . . . you will only get more bad behavior. Speaker Pelosi put these three charlatans on very influential Congressional committees. They are out of control because they are being allowed to be so.
The #WalkAway movement has arisen because there are actually people who are courageous enough to see this hypocrisy and call it out. They are willing to see what the Democrat Party has openly become . . . it was always there.
However, this new crop of progressive socialist leftist legislators are operating with full impunity, reckless abandon. They are supported by the real Democrat Party, not the old guard for which Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, and Jim Clayburn exemplify. They are in-your-face radicals who are bold and brazen.
But, the real question: will the Democrats face any ramifications for the actions of these freshmen? If prior actions are an indicator, of course, they will not because you must first have standards, in order to enforce standards. We all know that the left has no semblance of moral character. Just ask the kid at the University of California-Berkley who was punched in the face for just having an opposing political perspective. How many Democrats have come out to forcefully condemn that action?
Speaker Pelosi wanted the House majority back, and she got it. But, just two months in, it is severely fracturing and the powerful Pelosi finds herself herding cats. Funny thing, we hear little from those “moderate” House Democrats, 24 of whom voted with Republicans last week . . . Wanna know why? They believed that an illegal immigrant who attempted to purchase a firearm should be reported to ICE.
For that, “da Boss,” Ocasio-Cortez, threatened them with a primary challenge. The same old leftist tactic: threaten, coerce, intimidate, mandate, and enact violence to get their way, ideological domination and totalitarian control.
