The Mask is Off

In Culture, Democrats, Front Page, US Politics by Allen West

Allen West Old School Patriot Up From SlaveryPerhaps I was a little before my time, but there is no doubt that the mask is off when it comes to the progressive socialist left in America.

We should all realize that the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is a real organization. If we did not learn from the presidential candidacy of one Bernie Sanders, we should be aware now. But also, know that it was Vladimir Lenin who made the firm assertion that, “the goal of socialism is communism.” Socialism is an economic model that leads towards a social construct: communism, Marxism.

Now, ask yourselves: can an avowed socialist become an elected official, and actually take an oath to our constitution? It is a very serious and real question that even our US Army had to confront in the case of one 1LT Spenser Rapone. Can someone take an oath to defend something that they fundamentally want to undermine?

Well, looks like we shall see, as a result of the recent primary election in New York — Queens to be exact. As reported by CNN:

“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old Latina running her first campaign, ousted 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th congressional district on Tuesday, CNN projects, in the most shocking upset of a rollicking political season. An activist and member of the Democratic Socialists of America, Ocasio-Cortez won over voters in the minority-majority district with a ruthlessly efficient grassroots bid, even as Crowley — the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House — outraised her by a 10-to-1 margin. This was the first time in 14 years a member of his own party has attempted to unseat Crowley, who chairs the Queens County Democrats. His defeat marks a potential sea change in the broader sphere of liberal politics — a result with implications for Democrats nationwide that would recall, as optimistic progressives routinely noted during the campaign, former GOP Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s loss to the insurgent, tea party-backed Dave Brat in June 2014.

“This is not an end, this is the beginning. This is the beginning because the message that we sent the world tonight is that it’s not OK to put donors before your community,” Ocasio-Cortez told roaring supporters on Tuesday night. She cast her victory as the green shoots of triumph over the “deep midnight and darkness” of the political moment — and a message to fellow progressive organizers that their brand of activism could succeed on a grander scale. “You have given this country hope, you have given this country proof that when you knock on your neighbor’s door, when you come to them with love, when you let them know that no matter your stance, you are there for them — that we can make change,” she said.”

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez ran on a platform of medicare for all, a guaranteed federal jobs program, and the abolishing of the Immigration Control Enforcement (ICE) agency. I would beg to differ with her when she asserts that her election is an indicator of giving this country hope: we’ve been down that road. Maybe we should drop Ms. Ocasio-Cortez off in Venezuela and let her see “hope.” There is no “hope” in embracing the failed socialist policies of government healthcare, nationalizing economic production, and open borders. Perhaps she should have a conversation with the parents of Charlie Gard, and Alfie Evans, about government-run healthcare.

But, what is more disturbing is that here, in America, folks can be duped by this brand of idiocy. What’s absurd is the CNN attempt to draw a parallel to this, and the election of constitutional conservative, Rep. Dave Brat. There is nothing about the policy perspective of Rep. Brat that runs contrary, or antithetical, to the fundamental rule of law of this Constitutional Republic.

And so it goes: the progressive socialist left has a new hero, and you can bet she will be paraded all over the leftist, liberal, progressive media outlets. But, look past the charm, the smile, and recognize the danger — something we failed to do with Barack Obama. Socialism is an ugly pig, and no amount of lipstick can dress it up. And you can bet that chucklehead leftist detractors will attempt to say that I compared Ms. Ocasio-Cortez to a pig — wrong — but her political philosophy, and beliefs, are indeed repugnant to me, regardless of the messenger.

Let me issue a warning to my fellow Texans: the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are here in the Lone Star State. As a matter of fact, a member of the Austin City Council is a member.
