The Pretty Pastels of Revisionist History

In Front Page, History, Immigration, US Politics by Allen West

Today is the first day of our 244th year of existence as these United States of America. Unless you have been under a rock, you witnessed a complete apoplectic meltdown by the progressive socialist left over our Independence Day. I think we can honestly assert that the left has gone so far as to extend their hatred of President Donald Trump to a hatred of America. This goes well beyond the simplistic, and disrespectful burning of the American flag. It has now become the raison d’etre of the left to despise America and seek to erase, undermine, and eradicate its history.

Consider the complete and abject absurdity that here, in America, we cannot even ask in our census if a person is a citizen? This is not something new, although the leftist media would have you believe so. There had been questions regarding citizenship on our census forms until we got to the Obama administration, and it was removed. Now, why wouldn’t an American president want to ensure we knew who were — and were not — citizens of this country? I do not recall any judges seeking to block Obama’s directive to remove the citizenship question . . . so why the kerfuffle to have the same question reinstated?

It’s quite simple: the left hates Trump, so they hate America.

All of a sudden, some mediocre former NFL player tells us that our first flag of America, the Betsy Ross flag, is a symbol of racism. Then why was the same Betsy Ross flag not deemed a racist symbol when it draped our nation’s Capitol at the inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama . . . you know, the first Black president (actually half-white)?  Yep, ol’ Betsy Ross was never a racist symbol until Trump came along, so anything “American” is targeted for hatred, especially since Trump says “Make America Great Again” and “Keep America Great.” Those are triggering words, with hatred tied to Trump and America.

And to think, the progressive socialist left is running around tearing down statues and historical monuments because folks were racist? How about the first progressive President in these United States, former President of Princeton University, Woodrow Wilson? The abhorrent and racist film “Birth of a Nation” was shown in the White House, by Woodrow Wilson. You want to talk about monuments to racists and white supremacists? Well, there is a magnificent glass-covered building on I-45 just south of downtown Houston, Planned Parenthood. That organization was founded by a white supremacist and racist, Margaret Sanger, and thanks to her principles and values, 18M black babies have been murdered in the womb since 1973. Hmm, and Betsy Ross is a racist? And the last Democrat (socialist) Party presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, was a recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award?

As Spock used say on Star Trek, “Fascinating!”

Heck, here in Texas last year, we had a leftist movement to remove the reference of “heroic” from the history books towards the defenders of the Alamo. In Austin, Texas, the state capital, there was a leftist move to change the name of Austin.

And now this, as reported by AP News:

“San Francisco will spend up to $600,000 to paint over historical artwork at a public school depicting the life of George Washington, a mural once seen as educational and innovative but now criticized as racist and degrading for its depiction of black and Native American people.

The “Life of Washington” was painted by Victor Arnautoff, one of the foremost muralists in the San Francisco area during the Depression. The San Francisco School Board’s decision to paint over the 83-year-old mural is prompting some to worry that other artwork from the so-called New Deal era could face a similar fate because of changing sensitivities.

In addition to depicting Washington as a soldier, surveyor and statesman, the 13-panel, 1,600-square foot mural at George Washington High School contain images of white pioneers standing over the body of a Native American and slaves working at Washington’s Mount Vernon estate in Virginia.

The board’s decision last week comes at a time when the legacies of Washington and other historical figures who owned slaves are being re-examined. Some cities have changed the names of streets and buildings named after slave owners.

Richard Walker, a professor emeritus of geography at the University of California, Berkeley, and director of the history project, Living New Deal, said the Washington mural is meant to show the “uncomfortable facts” about America’s first president.

For that, it was among many New Deal works of art considered radical when created.

“We on the left ought to welcome the honest portrayal,” Walker said, adding that destroying a piece of art “is the worst way we can deal with historic malfeasance, historic evils.”

Mark Sanchez, vice president of the school board and a third-grade teacher, said students who must walk past the mural during the school day don’t have a choice about seeing the harmful images. “

Painting it over-represents not only a symbolic fresh start but a real fresh start,” he said.”

So, there you have it, the left — they call Austin, Texas, the “San Francisco of the Midwest” — wants a fresh start. For the left, it is all about just a fresh covering of paint, and the color of their paint is the color of hatred.

America is all about historic malfeasance and historic evils, and only the hatred of the progressive socialist left, the original purveyors of America’s ills — Democrats (socialists) — can rectify it all.

The left has done a phenomenal job of applying the tenets and principles of Karl Marx, and infiltrating our system of education and relegating it to a system of indoctrination. They do not teach our founding documents, nor do they speak of the triumphs of this great nation.

It is time we convey to the left that we will not allow them to airbrush our America with their hate. We do not like the pretty pastels of social justice, shared prosperity, and open borders. Click To Tweet

As a matter of fact, the left is more concerned with pandering to illegal immigrants — you know, undocumented, newcomers, migrants — than standing for our American flag, the symbol of liberty and freedom. The left does, indeed, have their buckets of paint and brushes out, going all over the country “painting over” America to create the “fundamental transformation” and “fresh start” they desire.

There is no place better to see this in action than in the Lone Star State of Texas. It is time we convey to the progressive socialist left that we will not allow them to airbrush our America with their hate. We do not like the pretty pastels of social justice, shared prosperity, and open borders.

Instead, we adore the bold colors of Red, White, and Blue!
