It is Black History Month, and we went back into the annals of history to dig up a speech I gave on the house floor on the subject.
Oh boy, y’all can surely understand why the party of slavery, segregation, and socialism certainly did not want a committed, convicted Black conservative in the US House of Representatives. Just the same as they fought to get rid of the only other Black Republican Member of Congress in the history of the State of Florida, my predecessor, Congressman Josiah T. Walls.
I will always be a proud American, and my folks instilled in me a burning desire to be proud of my American Black heritage. I ain’t no hyphenated fella.
During his 22 year career in the United States Army, Lieutenant Colonel West served in several combat zones and received many honors including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, one with Valor device, and a Valorous Unit Award.
In November of 2010, Allen was elected to the United States Congress, representing Florida’s 22nd District. In July of 2020, Mr. West was elected Chair of the Republican Party of Texas.
