Shameful Politicization of Tragedy . . . Again

In Culture, Front Page, Second Amendment by Allen West

A young person has lost their life and others were wounded in a school shooting in Douglas County, Colorado. Our focus should be on thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences for those who are suffering an unthinkable loss. Reports are that two juveniles are in custody, apprehended by law enforcement at the scene. As of my knowledge, their names have not been released, and it is not known if they are students at the school where they enacted their disgusting, heinous, and inexplicable action.

However, the usual suspects ran to their respective platforms, stages of absurdity, to do as Rahm Emanuel once asserted, “never let a good crisis go to waste.” These disrespectful talking heads sought political advantage out of tragedy, reacting, not even displaying the maturity to await for the details behind this sad occurrence.

As reported by Fox News:

“After a Colorado school shooting left one student dead and at least seven others injured on Tuesday, Democrats vying for the White House in 2020 renewed calls for stricter gun legislation.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said news of the deadly shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch left her “heartsick for the victims,” and urged lawmakers to pass gun reform immediately.

“How many more of our children’s schools must be torn apart by gun violence until Congress does something?” she wrote in a tweet. “We need gun reform. Now.”

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., pointed out the haunting significance of Tuesday’s deadly shooting, noting that it took place just eight miles away from Columbine High School. “

My heart goes out to the victims & their families at the STEM School Highlands Ranch, just eight miles away from Columbine High School,” she tweeted. “This has to stop. We must pass federal laws to end gun violence.”

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker shared a message on social media claiming that the government had “more federal regulation over toy guns than real ones” — a claim that critics have slammed as misleading.

“Another day, another school shooting. Every hour we wait more people are murdered—we have to pass comprehensive gun safety reform,” he wrote in a separate tweet.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., shadowed Booker’s sentiment, saying: “another school shooting. Another life cut far too short. Another family and community changed. Forever.”

Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind., also called for more “common sense gun reform,” calling the shooting part of a “mass … epidemic.”

California Sen. Kamala Harris asked how many more children would have “to watch their classmates get shot before Congress and the White House act?”

California Rep. Eric Swalwell told supporters in an email: “Today, our hearts go to Douglas County, CO and the victims of the shooting today. As I talk about the big and bold ideas on other issues, I promise that ending gun violence comes first.”

Let us all remember that it was Venezuelan socialist dictator, Hugo Chavez, who just seven years ago, used ending gun violence and protecting children to enact his ban against private gun ownership. Now, today, under Nicolas Maduro, his socialist successor, those same people are victims of the gun violence enacted by the government. And, yes, children are starving because of the tyranny of socialist policies, and have been rendered incapable of having anyone defend them against the wanton violence that we watch on the news.

These people, along with entertainment elites like Alyssa Milano and Michael Bloomberg’s anti-second amendment organization “Moms Demand Action”  have already come out castigating and demonizing the National Rifle Association (NRA) as being responsible. In other words, these people are blaming legal, law-abiding gun owners in America for something they had nothing to do with. And, these Democrat presidential candidates believe that they need to disarm the populace to prevent this tragedy.

Let me pose a question: if a car with two drunk teenagers were to strike a van carrying seven teenagers, killing several, what would be the response? Do we call for the banning of the elixir that they drank to become intoxicated? Do we demand that the type of car that they were driving be banned? Of course not, we hold the drunk teenagers who were driving the vehicle responsible, and charge them with vehicular homicide along with other related violations of our rule of law. We certainly do not punish all the other people who may also drink the same alcoholic beverage, or drive the same type of car.

So, why is it that when we have the reprehensible individual actions of one — or two in this case, just as with Columbine — we believe that we must have a collective punishment, retribution? Oh yeah, it is because there are some who are not interested in punishing those who are guilty. They are more interested in advancing an ideological agenda.

The issue in Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, Florida had nothing to do with me, a law-abiding, legal gun owner and member of the NRA Board of Directors. It had everything to do with the failure of the FBI, who received a report on Nicholas Cruz. How about the almost 35 reports of concern to the Broward County Sheriffs Office on Cruz, or the lack of response from BSO School Resource Officer Scott Peterson? Nah, instead of dealing with these failures, we now have the insidious “red flag laws” being implemented all over our country . . . a violation of the Second and Fourth Amendment individual constitutional rights.

Why is it that no one is talking about the Obama administration Promise Program, and Broward Superintendent Robert Runcie, all converging to prevent the multiple disciplinary issues with Nicholas Cruz from being reported?

Nope, we need to do as Hugo Chavez did and disarm the law-abiding gun owning populace.

Hey, I have a point of inquiry, what about parental responsibility? What about these people using the NRA School Shield security assessment program? What about looking into High School JROTC instructors being a first line of defense against any illegal intrusions into our schools? What about perhaps bringing God back into our schools, because when we drove Him out, we allowed evil to enter?

Shame on these opportunistic jackasses who prey upon tragedies to elevate themselves and promote their ideological agenda. You leftists, stop abusing our children for your electoral gain, and philosophical, progressive socialist, advantage. Tell them the truth and let them know that you are just using them as props to enact your gun confiscation and disarmament agenda. You are using the tragedy affecting our schools as nothing more than a means to promote your ultimate tyranny. None of you want to solve this issue, or seek out viable solutions, you, progressive socialists, just want a scapegoat, someone to blame.

When Kate Steinle, Mollie Tibbets, Jamiel Shaw, Officer Ronil Singh, and others, are gunned down by criminal illegal immigrants, you don’t say a damn word. As a matter of fact, in the case of Kate Steinle, you despicable people found the shooter, a five-time deported illegal immigrant, not guilty, and set him free. Some of you recently voted that an illegal immigrant seeking to purchase a firearm should not be reported to ICE.

The truth about these two young shooters, criminals, who I would almost surely bet are not NRA members, not responsible gun owners, will come out. And as always, y’all will be shamed, but then again, it is hard to shame those who are so lacking in honor, integrity, and character in the first place.
