Greetings, everyone! It is time for our end-of-week comic relief, we have appropriately named “Stuck on Stupid Saturday.” Now, some of you may believe that we might struggle to find a highly absurd story to present at week’s end. Hardly. I had considered writing about “Speaker Mommy Dearest” after Nancy Pelosi’s daughter lovingly described her mom as a woman who would cut your head off before you noticed you were bleeding . . . how nice.
However, the winner for this week should be well-known to y’all, and he continues to evidence he is “stuck on stupid.”
As reported by RedState:
“In a New Year’s Day address to parishioners at the Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) said the following:
Americans elected an authoritarian, an anti-immigrant, racist strongman to the nation’s highest office. Donald Trump and his ‘Make America Great Again’ followers who want to return American back to a time where white men and white privilege were unchallenged, and where minorities and women were in their place. These folks now control the highest office of the land. Donald Trump supporters are older, less educated, less prosperous, and they are dying early. Their life spans are decreasing, and many are dying from alcoholism, drug overdoses, liver disease, or simply a broken heart caused by economic despair. Much like how Hitler took over the Nazi party, Trump has taken over the Republican party. Hitler was accepting of violence toward the achievement of political objectives. Trump encouraged violence against protesters at his rallies, and his messaging about Charlottesville, that there were bad people on both sides, sent a powerful message of approval to the far right racists in America. Americans, particularly black Americans, can’t afford to make that same mistake about the harm that could be done by a man named Hitler or a man named Trump.”
Yep, I know — but get this: why is Rep. Hank Johnson delivering such a purely political speech at a church? Where are those progressive, socialist, secular, humanists crying “separation of church and state?” You can bet that if such a vile and despicable address was delivered by a Republican at a church, with reference to Barack Obama, it would be all over the news. Heck, former Houston Mayor, Annise Parker, demanded Christian pastors submit their sermons to her office because they spoke out against the planned “bathroom” bill.
But, to Rep. Johnson himself — and I served with him in Congress — his district is in my birth city, where I grew up, in Atlanta. Johnson was the replacement for another real winner, Cynthia McKinney. You may recall that Hank Johnson is the same fella that believed that deploying more US Marines to the island of Guam would cause the island to capsize (see video below). Now you remember him! Yes, he was on the House Armed Services Committee, and I would always cringe right before he asked a question.
Think about the assertions in his address: on one side he says Trump supporters are older, then he also says Trump supporters are dying early. He says Trump supporters lifespans are decreasing and that they are dying from drug overdoses . . . the older ones? As well, Trump supporters are dying of broken hearts, that sounds like a country song. We are in economic despair? Nah, the economic despair was during the Obama administration.
There is no debate, this week’s winner of the “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” distinction is US Representative Hank Johnson of Georgia. I may consider bestowing a Lifetime Achievement recognition, certainly an Emeritus Stupidus designation.
But, ask yourselves: should the real “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” recognition go to Rep. Johnson, or to those who continue to reelect him, ten years in Congress? As Forest Gump would say, “stupid is as stupid does.” And it is rather Pavlovian: why should Rep. Johnson — or any progressive socialist chucklehead — change when they keep getting reelected, regardless of their absurd statements? After all, last time we had Speaker Mommy Dearest, she said, “we have to pass the bill in order to find out what is in it” when speaking of Obamacare. Guess what? Said person is Speaker of the Hose again.
Therefore, I will submit an additional “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” award to those folks who are a special kind of stupid, who vote for those who are stuck on stupid. Ya know, kinda like voting for the young Freshman Congresswoman from NYC who asserts that unemployment in America is low because people are working two jobs. That Congresswoman has an economics degree from Boston University.
Oh well, I am a 57-year-old black man who voted for President Trump. According to Hank Johnson, I am less educated, less prosperous, dying early, an alcoholic, gonna die of a drug overdose, have a broken heart, and well, just miserable.
Ladies and gents, this week’s “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” recognition goes to my former congressional colleague, Rep. Hank Johnson. Later this year when I go to Cayman Brac to scuba dive, I had best be careful as to not cause the island to tip over . . . can’t make that up folks!
