The Big Chickens on Campus

In #SOSS, Business, Culture, Economics, Front Page by Allen West

Folks, we have arrived at the most wonderful time of the year for me: college football season. For me, it is a long struggle after the buzzer goes off at the NCAA basketball tournament. See, I love college football and basketball, seriously, college football. And those of us who spend the offseason watching ESPN replays of college football games from last year, well, our reprieve has finally come. Another great part of college football season are the Chick-fil-A commercials. Y’all know I was born and raised in Atlanta, the birthplace of the best chicken sandwich in the world.

But, as usual, these stuck on stupid progressive socialists are already finding a way to try and ruin a new college football season. They are continuing their assault on Chick-fil-A.

As reported by the Kansas City Star:

“University of Kansas faculty, advocating for LGBTQ people on campus, are denouncing the school’s new relationship with Chick-fil-A restaurant chain and calling for a boycott. Chick-fil-A had operated out of the basement of KU’s Wescoe Hall for 15 years, but this school year moved up to a prominent spot in the student union. In addition, the restaurant secured a sponsorship — the newly created “Chick-fil-A Coin Toss” at the start of every Jayhawks home football game for the next several years.

“KU granted Chick-fil-A, a bastion of bigotry, a prime retail location in the heart of our campus,” KU’s Sexuality & Gender Diversity Faculty and Staff Council said in a letter sent this week to Chancellor Doug Girod, the provost’s office and the athletic department. “Moving Chick-fil-A to the Union and granting it a role at the start of all home football games violates the feelings of safety and inclusion that so many of us have striven to create, foster, and protect on campus, and sends a message that the Union, KU Athletics, and the administration at large are more concerned about money and corporate sponsorship than the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of marginalized and LGBTQ people.”

The council objects to the university relationship with Chick-fil-A because of the owner’s “history of supporting organizations that are hostile to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people, families, and communities,” the letter said. “The culture of Chick-fil-A fosters hate and discrimination on multiple levels. In short, Chick-fil-A on KU’s campus stands in direct contrast to the university’s mission of fostering a multicultural, inclusive environment.”

Doggone, can't we just have our chicken sandwich and our college football and be left alone? #ChickfilA Click To Tweet

Doggone, can’t we just have our chicken sandwich and our college football and be left alone? I mean seriously, if you do not like the owner of Chick-fil-A then don’t eat it, don’t frequent the place. Look, I do not care for Ben and Jerry’s leftist stance, so I do not eat their ice cream. Plus, I am in Texas and they have da best ice cream in Blue Bell. I do not speak out about Ben and Jerry’s business, heck, I wish them well.

So why is it that the left gets so stuck on stupid when people do not succumb to their ideological agenda? Americans have a right to their freedom of speech and expression. We have our right to our own beliefs and convictions. Yes, our first freedom, liberty, right, is freedom of religion. So those of us who believe in traditional marriage between one man and one woman have the right to believe so and people who own businesses have the right to operate their businesses.

Now, I gotta tell ya, Angela and I have degrees from Kansas State University, so we have no love for the Kansas University Jayhawks. Now I have an even bigger reason to not ever like the Jayhawks, if they take adverse action against Chick-fil-A.

Let’s just play football, and if you do not like the owner of Chick-fil-A, then go eat some plant-based “chicken” or something. The faculty on college campuses are there to teach. Sadly, these stuck on stupid rascals believe they are supposed to indoctrinate first and foremost.

I want to leave y’all with this thought: imagine if the progressive socialist left attains political power in America. These delusional and deranged leftists have no problem making lists and assailing businesses of their “political enemies” — that means you!

Maybe if KU had a winning college football team they would be focused elsewhere.
