Everyone knows that my alma mater for my undergraduate degree is the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I am a proud Volunteer for Life (VFL). Now, down south, our traditions, loyalties, and pride run deep in SEC country. It is just how we are raised, and rivalries run deep. And, the one between Alabama and Tennessee is certainly indicative of that. The last time I praised the Crimson Tide, it was during last year’s SEC championship football game, and the incredible humble heroics of one Jalen Hurts.
This time I wanna say, “Roll Tide” for telling pompous jackass and rich progressive socialist, Hugh Culverhouse, Jr. to shove it. As Townhall reports:
“As with any school, you don’t trash it and you don’t tell students to boycott it over something that is not within the realm of their control. The university’s board of trustees returned a $20+ million [$2.5M] gift and removed the donor’s name from the law school.
This comes after Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr. urged students to boycott the institution over the state’s abortion law that recently passed. The law is one of the strictest anti-abortion laws on the books, which sent liberals into a frenzy.
Now, the school says their move wasn’t over the donor’s views on the abortion law, but more centered on how he wanted the money to be spent. Culverhouse’s father owned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Culverhouse said the move was akin to Alabama putting a shotgun in their mouth and pulling the trigger (via Associated Press) [emphasis mine]: After the trustees’ vote, the younger Culverhouse said that he and father had donated to the university over the years in part to rid Alabama of a certain stereotype: “We are the land of the backward, we are hicks, we lack the sophistication to see two sides to an argument.”
This episode reminds me of the Lynyrd Skynyrd lyrics from “Sweet Home Alabama:”
A special hat tip and a hearty “Roll Tide” to the University of Alabama for telling a fascist progressive socialist that their money has no power. It is time more folks stand up to these rich white progressive socialists, like Soros, Steyer, Bloomberg, Buffett, Gates, and others to say that we will not surrender our principles and values to you . . . nor our children anymore!
Regardless, I still hope we beat ol’ ‘Bama in football, but today, I love me some Crimson Tide!
